Subject: Nihongo Philacon, April 25

Hello Mina-sama,

I hope you have all been doing well.  I want to get in touch about this year’s Nihongo Philacon Japanese Language Event, set for Saturday April 25.  I apologize that this communication is coming only one month away from the event date.  Preparations for the first-ever month-long Sakura Matsuri got the best of me and I am afraid I left this for too long.

However, you should have received my email earlier in the year letting you know the date, April 25 at 10:00 AM at Villanova, and I hope you all have had it on your calendars.

I will send you application forms and guidelines before the end of this week.  The application forms are simplified from last year, so it should not take long for your students to fill them out.

Also, as a reminder this year’s format will be different, with teams mixed from the participating schools and more multiple choice questions.  These measures are to relax the level of competition and create a more cooperative atmosphere.

The cultural workshop this year will be taiko drumming and all the students will have a chance to play the drums, so that is something exciting for them to look forward to.

Please remind your students about the event so they can plant to attend, and look for more information from me in the next few days.  I am confident that we can have another successful event that will energize your students’ Japanese study!

よろしくお願いします!

Sam
