NPSD Welcomes New North Penn High School Principal
Following months of careful search and detailed examination by the district, Mr. Bauer is extremely excited to begin his journey with NPSD this summer in preparation for the start of the school year in September.
“The interview process really helped me get a sense of the professionalism and positive environment that is NPSD,” said Bauer.
Bauer underwent three challenging rounds of interviews with a wide range of participants. The final round included an audience of over 70 parents, teachers, administrators, board members and students. Bauer and the other candidates were given 35 minutes to present to the large group on behalf of who they were, what they stood for, their vision in regards to education, the future of NPSD and why they should be chosen.
“Mr. Bauer was a truly impressive candidate,” explains NPSD Superintendent Dr. Curtis Dietrich. “He exhibited exceptional communication skills. He’s very perceptive and demonstrated a great deal of intelligence—both cognitive and emotional. He really showed his understanding of a large school system through his background and experience at Central Bucks, which is also a high performing school district.”
Bauer’s presentation to the 70 member audience included an introduction to him as a person and explained his educational background, his vision and core values. Dr. Dietrich said it gave NPSD a good sense of who Bauer is and what he stands for.
Bauer is no stranger to the Greater Montgomery County area, as he was born and raised in Harleysville and a local graduate of Souderton High School. After earning his B.A. in Mathematics and B.S. in Education from Bucknell University, Bauer taught a range of distinguished math courses at Upper Mooreland High School and Indian Valley Middle School before returning to his alma mater to teach at Souderton Area High School in 2008. There, Bauer pursued his love of swimming and served as head coach of the Souderton Indians Aquatics Team. He also served as the department chair for mathematics after earning his Master of Science in Technology from Wilkes University in 2009. Bauer completed an Administrative Internship where he worked closely with an assistant principal for the 2011-2012 school year, leading up to earning his Pennsylvania Principal’s Certificate in the spring of 2012. From there, Mr. Bauer went on to serve as the Assistant Principal at Central Bucks High School South in the fall.
When asked what Mr. Bauer hopes to bring to NPHS, he eagerly replied, “I want to bring a student-centered mentality to the high school that’s focused on student achievement, helping to develop kids for life beyond high school.”
Mr. Bauer will begin his career at NPHS this summer, joining retiring principal Burt Hynes until his last day in early September.
