Guiding Principles

Purpose

Every three years, as directed by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, the North Penn School District creates a comprehensive plan to guide the district's decisions moving forward. This is a continuous process that ensures:
  • All students are achieving at high levels
  • Increased student performance
  • Schools and districts effectively plan and lead innovative school improvement practices
  • LEAs develop cohesive long-term goals and action plans, monitor yearly progress, and provide transparency in communication
  • Focused and aligned resources and professional development
  • Public participation

Committee Objectives and Process

A committee made up of NPSD staff, parents, students, administrators, a board director, and a community member was formed to guide the comprehensive plan development. Together, they reviewed demographic data, assessed district performance using the Pennsylvania Essential Practices for District Framework, analyzed the Fall 2024 climate survey, and used the Future Ready PA Index to identify strengths and areas for growth. The group also gathered feedback on current programs and created a three-year plan focused on advancing the district with an emphasis on clear communication with the North Penn community.

The planning process included input from a wide range of stakeholders helping shape the direction of the plan. Administrators shared insights through Leadership Academy sessions and meetings, while the core committee met in November, December, and January to review feedback from nearly 9,000 participants. They conducted a needs assessment, examined strengths and challenges, and evaluated how well the district communicates with families and the community. The result was a draft plan with defined goals and actions which was submitted to the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
