Dear Families,
We’re excited to share some updates about our elementary progress reports.
Over the past year, a committee of teachers and staff has been working to make progress reports clearer and more helpful for families. Based on your feedback, here are some of the key changes:
- You’ll receive paper copies of report cards, along with the electronic version in Infinite Campus.
- Reports will be translated into Spanish, Bengali, Gujarati, Arabic, Korean, Mandarin, and Vietnamese.
- The language used to describe both academic progress and the characteristics of a successful learner has been revised to clearly communicate student performance and the level of teacher support required.
- Teachers have updated indicators in English Language Arts (ELA) to match current instruction.
- Indicators for special area classes will be updated when the grades are released for the second trimester.
- We’re also exploring the use of letter grades in 6th grade to help students transition smoothly to middle school beginning in the 2026–2027 school year.
Progress reports will be shared in December, but we wanted to give you a preview of how student performance will be described before parent-teacher conferences in November.
- Secure (4): The student independently meets grade-level standards and applies key concepts, processes, and skills at a complex level without teacher support.
- Meeting (3): The student consistently demonstrates progress and meets grade-level standards with minimal teacher support.
- Progressing (2): The student is working toward grade-level standards and demonstrates partial understanding. Teacher support and scaffolding are needed.
- Emerging (1): The student requires significant support to develop understanding and make progress toward grade-level standards.
- Not Assessed (X): Not Assessed
Thank you for your partnership and support as we continue to improve how we share your child’s learning progress.
Sincerely,
Pamula Hart, Ph.D., Director of Curriculum an Equity
