It is with great pride that the North Penn School District (NPSD) announces the appointment of Lynne B. Millard as principal of Oak Park Elementary School, Christina S. Carter as Principal of A.M. Kulp Elementary School and Kristin Johnson as Assistant Director of Business Administration following approval by the NPSD Board of School Directors at a meeting held on Monday, November 26, 2018.
Millard, Carter and Johnson underwent various rounds of interviews with many participants ranging from district administrators, board members, staff, families and community members. Participant feedback was much appreciated and served as a vital component in the selection of these individuals for their respective roles in the NPSD.
Lynne B. Millard, future principal at Oak Park, comes to North Penn from the School District of Philadelphia where she served in a multitude of roles over the last 30 years. Most recently, Millard was Principal of Kennedy C. Crossan Academics Plus Elementary School, a position she held since July of 2009. Prior to this role, she served as the Assistant Principal of Mary McLeod Bethune Elementary School for three years. The bulk of Millard 's educational background took place at John B. Kelly Elementary School where she spent 18 years in positions including a fourth-grade teacher, Small Learning Community Coordinator, Title I Program Support Teacher/Testing Coordinator and Administrative Liaison. Some of Millard 's responsibilities in these roles included serving as the lead teacher for 13 classes; coordinating the expenditures of Title I funds; providing academic support to at-risk students; leading professional development for teachers and parents; coordinating administration, scheduling and preparation program for Terra Nova and PSSA testing; assisting with all daily duties to support a safe school environment to promote academic excellence; and providing support to all staff, students and parents.
Millard earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from West Chester University in 1988 and her Master of Education from Cabrini College in 2008. She also holds a K-12 Principal Certification from Cheyney University and a Superintendent Letter of Eligibility from Saint Joseph 's University.
A.M. Kulp's newly appointed principal, Christina S. Carter, joins North Penn from the Upper Darby School District where she served as District-Wide Instructional Coach of Reading, High School Department Chair of Reading and High School Reading Specialist over the last three years. Prior to her time at Upper Darby, Carter worked in the School District of Philadelphia as an Art Educator K-8 at William C. Bryant Promise Academy and John Barry Elementary School. She also served as the 7th Grade STEM Science Educator at Toby Farms Intermediate School in the Chester Upland School District.
Carter earned her Bachelor of Science in Education from Temple University in January of 2012 and her Master of Education from Cabrini University in August of 2015. She recently completed her Principal Certification at the University of Pennsylvania in July of 2018. Carter also holds certifications in PA Instructional II: Reading Specialist PK-12 and PA Instructional II: Art PK-12.
NPSD's newest Assistant Director of Business Administration, Kristin Johnson, comes to North Penn from the Downingtown Area School District where she served as the Financial Analyst and Financial Operations and Analysis Supervisor since January of 2015. In this role, Johnson was responsible for managing and analyzing the investment of all district funds and cash flow needs to ensure all district financial obligations were met. Among many other responsibilities, she also worked to support the development of the annual budget and forecasts including actual analysis of variances and trends, and monthly expense/revenue reporting and analysis.
Johnson also served as Capital Asset Accountant/Property Surplus Manager/Plant Fund Accountant and Internal Audit Manager at The University of Montana. In addition to Johnson 's experience in education, she spent seven years in the financial realm of corporate America serving in key roles at companies including the Dollar Financial Group, Amerigas Propane and Maille, Falconiero & Co, LLP.
Johnson earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Bloomsburg University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Montana. She is currently in pursuit of a Master of Science in School Business Leadership at Wilkes University with anticipated completion in the spring of 2019.
