Dear North Penn Families,
The government’s distribution of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits, commonly known as food stamps or SNAP benefits, is currently on pause. See here for additional information. The North Penn School District has compiled information and community resources to help those affected.
Free and Reduced School Meals:
At this time, school meals will continue to be served as usual in all of our schools. Our meal programs are expected to operate without disruption, and students will continue to have access to healthy breakfasts and lunches each school day.
Current meal benefits will not change or be affected. Families may also apply for free or reduced-price meal benefits at any time during the school year if household circumstances change. Apply online at SchoolCafe.com.
Currently, the PA Department of Human Services (DHS) does not have a confirmed date for when payments will resume. When Congress passes funding to reopen the federal government and fully fund SNAP, DHS will work with the USDA to issue benefits as quickly as possible. This could take up to 10 days after the government reopens. DHS will notify SNAP recipients when payments can resume and when to expect SNAP payments.
