Radium Girls tells the story of a group of young women working as watch painters who contract radiation poisoning as a result of the glowing radium paint used on the watch dials. Grace Fryer, a “radium girl”, leads the fight for justice against the U.S. Radium Corporation who refuses to accept responsibility for the illnesses. The play takes a look at the labor movement and women’s rights, both in and out of the workplace.
NPHS Theatre is funded in part by the North Penn School District, but ticket sales cover sets, costumes, lights, sound rentals, and other technical and staffing expenses for the show. Patrons have the option to add a donation to their ticket purchase and support theatre students involved in this production while securing the future of theatre education at North Penn High School.
