Volunteers

Parent OotM

Volunteers play a vital role in North Penn's Odyssey of the Mind program. On December 31, 2014, changes to the Child Protective Services Law (CPSL) became effective. The changes impact the requirements for individuals serving as school volunteers. Any parent who volunteers to spend time with a NP OotM team must get cleared according to the state and federal regulations. This can be accomplished at no cost to the volunteer. Please see below for details.

Three clearances are required:

Volunteer Service Code: 1KG6Y3

* A North Penn School District Volunteer Affirmation may be provided in lieu of the Report of Federal Criminal History (fingerprinting) for those volunteers who have lived continuously within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for the last 10 years. Volunteers who have lived outside the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in the last 10 years will need to complete the Federal Criminal History (fingerprinting).

Please wait until you have all three required documents in hand and then mail acopy to the address below; be sure to attach a note that you are an "Odyssey of the Mind" volunteer so that your information is filed correctly. Original documents may be presented in the District's Office of School and Community Engagement ; this office is located at the ESC.

When you submit your clearances, please email wiernujs@npenn.org to
notify Joanne Wiernusz, District Coordinator, Odyssey of the Mind so
it can be noted that your team volunteers are cleared. Do not send clearance
documents to Joanne; these are considered confidential and should be
presented at the ESC.

Thanks for your continued support and cooperation!
